Benefits of Membership


As a member of CCEA you are eligible for a range of discounts, services, and insurance protection. Only full members have access to discounts and services. Please note that membership to CCEA includes MSEA and NEA membership and member benefits, and additional information is available on their websites.

   PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Supports release-time president to actively serve members, recruit teachers with leadership potential and assists with on-the-job issues
  • NEA/MSEA/CCEA Websites available to keep members informed
  • NEA/MSEA/CCEA provides support for new and experienced member teachers through free quality professional development workshops and seminars such as the National Board Teacher Certificate Support Program, “I Can Do It!”, and SPARKS
  • Awards a college scholarship to a deserving high school graduate who is the child of a CCEA member
  • Plans Community Outreach Programs such as our annual Read Across America event
  • Elects active delegation to MSEA & NEA Conventions
  • Promotes public education a the local, state and national levels

ADVOCACY AND PROTECTION FOR TEACHERS:

  • Provides members $1 million professional liability insurance and access to MSEA legal counsel
  • Gives educators a voice on the job
  • Provides UniServ staff for professional consultation with members to protect their rights as professionals under the contract and the law
  • Represents members in grievance procedures
  • Negotiates salary and fringe benefits as exclusive bargaining agent
  • Works through the non-partisan Government Relations Committee to endorse and elect local candidates of any party who support public education  (All Political Action is funded solely by voluntary contributions to our FFCPE fund)
  • Actively lobbies the Board of Education for improvement in workload, working conditions and funding
  • Actively lobbies County Commissioners for funding of the Board of Education budget (pay raises, benefits, resources, etc.)
  • Through the Maryland State education Association and the National Education Association, lobbies elected officials to protect school funding, pension rights, improve educator rights, and bottom-up school quality
  • Serves on the Business and Education Committee of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, sponsoring Outstanding Teacher Awards and Job Shadow Program
  • Maintains liaison with Parent Teacher Organizations and other community groups
  • Establishes business partnerships to benefit members

  • MSEA membership card – acts as a national discount card for the NEA “Click & Save” program.  Ask a local rep for information

  • Provides opportunities for family trips  and events throughout the year, such as outings to sports events, theatrical productions, bus trips and summer family vacations
  • Provides opportunities for members to gather and socialize away from work
